Recruitment is a challenging job, a holistic process and I've honed my skills in every aspect of it. Every time a person has been recruited, I feel as if I've got a job myself! Recruitment is crucial to the profession for a number of reasons. Library schools are closing, library educators are retiring early, librarians are drawn into other information and technological fields, members of the profession increasingly do not reflect the demographics of the U.S., and the supply of librarians in some specialties is becoming limited if not extinct. Recruitment is different from selection. The objective of recruitment is to attract the best pool of interested applicants who meet the criteria for participation in the selection process.
Recruitment is measured as the amount of herring spawning for the first time. Herring have variable recruitment levels. Recruitment is defined as the process of actively searching for volunteers who have previously been identified (Culp, Deppe, Castillo, & Wells, 1998). In order to successfully recruit 4-H volunteers, agents should focus on 4-H's positive name recognition, the volunteer's potential for personal interaction with 4-H members and volunteers, and the opportunity to make a contribution to the community (Culp & Schwartz, 1999). Recruitment is an ongoing process from a central office that coordinates for the entire State of Maine, including extensive Internet postings. An important thrust of the recruitment strategy is a marketing approach developed by staff, who have created a logo, brand, and website for the project.
Recruitment is a time for a potential new member to get to know the brothers and see if the organization is something he might like to join. In turn, it's a time for the brothers to get to know the rushers and see if they'd fit in. Recruitment is a business that relies upon accurate information in order to work effectively. Vacancy / job specifications need to be clear, truthful and unambiguous as does the information detailed in a candidate s C.V.
